Diyou Yu’s work has been exploring the balance between change and stillness, each piece of making is a referent to the standpoint of herself that time among the flux.

Nature remains unfailing inspirations for initiating her work, it is also where she finds temporary refuges away from the conditioned minds. Analogue darkroom printing, etching, drawing, other obsolete, relatively repetitive, and time-consuming methods are used to rewrite, translate, and then represent those replicas of tranquility to audiences, while the experience of making also helps to expand the unconditioned observational space within.

Diyou's recent prints are collected encounters with composures during her daily walk in nature during the first and second lockdown. The moments of tranquility and serenity are capsuled via drawing and analogue films, then retranslated via various printmaking techniques, prepared for the next encounter with others.

Yu finished her MA Print program at Royal College of Art, 2021.

She has exhibited in London and internationally. Exhibitions include 'Artists as Independent Publishers' at Weserburg Museum, Germany, 'The Book Is A Container', Bermondsey Bothy Lake gallery, London, and upcoming show 'Waving Traces' at The Potting Shed, Sculpture park, Contemporary Sculpture Fulmer, Slough.
