June is a contemporary artist and printmaker from North London with particular interest in structural and architectural forms. Her focus has been to create thought-provoking etchings of structures/buildings around London, Europe and South East Asia. June has exhibited in London, Cambridge and Bristol and at the Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, the Cambridge Open Art Exhibition and the Royal West of England Academy.
June has been captivated and intrigue by the experimental aspect of printmaking pushing the process beyond the boundaries of the initial etch. This has encouraged and challenged her to constructed her artworks using hand-cut outs and paper structures exceeding the existing thresholds of the framing process. The results are mainly 3-dimensional pieces evoking the curiosity of the observer and leading to multi-views and interpretations of the piece. The final image is an integral combination of the print, the paper structures and the frame.
June has created 9 etchings of buildings in 19th century Sandakan in North Borneo from archival manuscripts and have published these in a book called Reflections of a Curious Victorian Lady in North Borneo. The book includes a well-researched biography of Mrs Ada Blanche Pryer, guardian to June’s grandfather.
