SooMin’s practice is inspired by the transition from one place to another. She has a particular interest in the anticipation of surprise, revealing the unknown during a journey.

Each piece is a story informed by the experience and impression of the place or a particular journey. Reminiscing the essence of the journey, the path, window or door as a gateway to the next destination, is often highlighted in the print. The pandemic has much influence in the collagraph prints. The uncanny and melancholy atmosphere is shown in the work to create uncertainties for the viewer.

Born in Malaysia, SooMin Leong currently lives and works in London. She received her BA in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of Arts in Singapore (2007) and her MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking from University of West of England (2011).
