Raquel Hernández Izquierdo’ work explore the analogies between printmaking’ process and natural phenomena that are not provoked by humans.

Her prints are the result of experimentation with chalcographic engraving techniques in which chemical reactions corrodes the plate. Raquel does not have total control of the entropic process, so these techniques are ideal to represent analogous phenomena of nature.

Universal Parallelism, is a metaphor comparing the birth of a star and the progressive corrosion of a copper plate, so the process of engraving is printed to represent sequentially the development of a star. There are visual analogies between the corrosion of metal and the nuclear activity inside stars, because both phenomena are entropic.

Raquel graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2012 with an MA in Research in Creative Arts and a in Fine Art Printmaking and an MA from the Castilla la Mancha University.

She has exhibited since 2014 in a number of independent shows and mixed exhibitions. Include, Fine Art University U-25, at Tsukuba Museum of Art, Japan; Master Printmaking, at The Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts, KoMASK czw, Belgium; Justmad Fair, Madrid, Spain; and Fig Bilbao Fair, Basque Country, Spain.

Her work is held in many important public collections including The National Library of Spain or The Royal Mint of Spain.
