Yimin currently lives in London and graduated in MA printmaking at Camberwell College of Art, UAL. And he studies in MRes Art and humanities at RCA currently.

Initially trained as a printmaker, Yimin aware of the limitations of the traditional model, and adhere to the creation method of direct print to challenge the boundary and began experimenting with photography, ready-made image and narratives and incorporating them into his work in 2019.

Yimin’s prints have incorporated photographic images from newspaper media which depict conflict and social unrest. His print work ‘Sunshine Breaks’ enlarged from an image found in the newspaper, and printed from three coloured photopolymer plates. He noticed the fallen of traditional print industry, tried to discover the narrative power in those hidden images, awakened people to look at the images in the archives with new ideas, and established an image log using archives as a method.

He also tried to demonstrate and disclosed the narrative potential of images and their associative power with human trauma. Emerging from personal experience and fortuitous encounters, Yimin’s research interests take their final form as objects and images that have accrued shifting layers of meaning in the world and suggests a universal history.
