The primary focus of Marina's work is on portraiture, a complex and diverse subject offering endless new facets for exploration.

She divides her time between painting and printmaking, spending months or even years on one or the other. The desire for colour and spontaneity draws her to painting mediums, while introspective periods call for printmaking.

Marina is best known for her evocative portraits. She has been gaining international recognition for portraiture pieces in the rare and difficult printmaking technique of mezzotint.

She believes that the human form is the most expressive subject of art. "We are multi-layered, complex, creative beings. To add to that, we create social structures on multiple levels for us to exist in. It is fascinating and overwhelming at the same time. I feel the need to understand and simplify. Inevitably, that becomes the underlying narrative of my work."

Marina graduated from the Republican College of Art in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in Graphic Arts.

Marina's work has been featured in the UK and International shows. This year's exhibitions include the New York Satellite Print Fair; International Print Center New York - New Prints - Summer (headline image); Center for Contemporary Printmaking - 13th Biennial Miniature Print Exhibition and the Federation of British Artists' exhibition "Figurative Art Now".
