Death Toll
63 x 29.5 in (h x w)

This piece expresses my sorrow and outrage after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. These 17 victims are represented by roses atop the weapon that took their lives: an AR-15. The tic marks represent those killed in mass shootings since 1984 by this weapon. All but the first grouping of two tic marks in the upper left corner indicate victims killed in shootings with AR-15s, after the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 expired in 2007. The killings at Sandy Hook Elementary are in the second row. The tragedies in Orlando and Las Vegas are the largest groupings.
