"Enlightenment" is inspired by a small statue I found in an Asian art display at the Denver Art Museum. The statue was barely twelve inches tall and was centuries old. Yet it drew me in to a feeling of joy. I needed to interpret that feeling into an art piece. Buddha is asexual but I want my Buddha to be more feminine. I placed "her" among flowers, trees, green rolling hills, blue sky, and fluffy white clouds. I wanted anyone that sees this piece to enter, at least briefly, into a place of peace, joy and, yes, maybe enlightenment.
