I created this quilt to celebrate the release, through a burning ceremony, of past deeds and words that I experienced as a child and into adulthood. The phoenix represents renewal and our capacity for new visions. It is about overcoming darkness and rising to the challenge to become stronger, more confident, and gain freedom, a rebirth and transformation.
