Lessons Learned
60 x 36 in (h x w)

Created for an exhibit at Visions honoring Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement. This is the story of both King and Johnson. In order to appreciate the Civil Rights Movement and celebrate a forward movement, you need to learn about the past. Depicted as young boys, Martin and Lyndon's stories are written in them. Other events in history are written throughout the quilt. In the tradition of Harriet Powers (1837-1910) I like my quilts to tell a story. This is only a very small part of that story. One that should not be forgotten.
