Tree of Life
42 x 30 in (h x w)

This piece was originally inspired by tomb figures representing an intact Cypriot community structure, seen in the Medelhavts Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. When I heard about the shooting of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I realized the universality and darkness of my figures had become my homage to those who had died in that violent gun massacre. The added figures in pink, gold, and beige silk are meant to represent those people of many faiths who came to mourn with the Jewish community, and support their/our healing.
