Layers Versus Surface , 2021
41 x 51 cm (h x w)

In my second artwork I wanted to communicate how humans have many inner layers that make us who we are but we are often judged by who we are on the outside. To communicate this idea I used a metaphor of a red onion because it clearly has inner layers and those are what are important when using the onion for cooking or eating but when you buy the onion you judge it from how it appears on the outside. I used colours in relation to the reference photo, mainly to make the piece more aesthetically pleasing but also because I wanted this artwork to stand out from my “Glimmer of Hope’ series.
