Nic Smith

At around 25, I began to draw almost obsessively each day after what had been a long period of creative blockage and inactivity. It became my greatest pleasure and focus, yet I had no idea what the greater goal or direction was. After some time I was struck with an almost revelatory realisation that I wanted to become a tattoo artist - to me there is no better creative career that enables someone to make a decent living by being able to draw every day. So I started putting a folio together over the next 18 months, eventually was taken on by a shop, and have presently been tattooing for close to a year full time. Whilst it’s a very all consuming job, I still make time to draw and additionally sell prints and original works as an illustrator.
