Every person is a composition of the people they spend the most time with and the environment they are in. You might loop the bunny ear around the tree to tie your shoes, the way their dad showed you, you may use a specific spoon and measuring cup when making mac n cheese because it is the way your mom made it, or repeat a silly joke or phrase your grandma said once.

Your sense of humor, your values, your personality, all come from the people you choose to surround yourself with. For me, those people are mostly my family.

I created a collage of pictures, quotes, and comments about or from the strong women in my family. These images and words make up my silhouette, just as these people make me who I am today. Each person has an amazing story, and throughout the process of researching for this exhibit, I was able to learn more of them. Stories of love, humor, wisdom, and loss that have shaped my family for generations.

The QR code leads to a virtual model of some of the strongest women on both sides of my family and tell small pieces of their stories. You can zoom in, move around, and read about each one of them, and me too. I aspire everyday to be as strong and independent as the women I come from.
