Sculpture

Paper and fabric sculpture of a person laid on a torn paper and cardboard plinth. The overall size of the piece is 30cm on it's longest edge, 21cm along the shortest edge and has a depth of 6cm at it's highest point.
The figure is made of different fragments of printed paper, these pieces vary in size and shape giving a textural and organic feel to the piece. The printed paper is white with black text, most of the words are now obscured but the original documents were from the artists own therapy sessions.
The figure also has hand torn segments of an organic print, this is in hues of a vivid cyan that evokes the movement of waves. The right side of the body, near the elbow and hip respectively, are two remnants of grided fabric that have handwritten words on them. They read 'why is my behaviour being put on trial'.
The backing plinth is adorned with a repeated handwritten poem, the black and teal ink words run along the edges of the cardboard almost framing the figure.
'Even in the light I watch from shadow, surrounded by people
I am alone
my inner demons play
their havoc mocks me everyday
and still I smile.
Like the doll that's seen too much
a forgotten plaything lost its innocence
smashed
broken
fractured."
