Three Mary's, three stories , 2021
56 x 96 cm (h x w)
Animation, film

‘Three Mary’s, three stories’ gives a short insight into three women and their stories who were all patients at The West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum during the 1800’s.

Using medical and personal records, the short animation demonstrates three very different experiences and narratives of all three women during their time spent in the asylum, and ranges from the perspective of the women themselves and from the doctors who were in charge of their care.

‘Three Mary’s, three stories’ aims to give a hint at these narratives using illustrations and audio transcriptions, intending to create a curiosity for the audience to learn more about their stories.
