Neo Expessionism

Basquait is our original art hero. From the margins he was pulled into the art world like a whirlwind. He used social commentary in his paintings as a tool for introspection and for identifying with his experiences in the Black community of his time, as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism. The art world celebrated him and the valuable art he produced, but few were there to mentor, guide and support him when he was suddenly wildly successful and wealthy. The failure of those around him to care and address his addictions with love and compassion resulted in Jean losing his battle to an overdose at 27. In his name, we intend to compassionately elevate new artists within a supportive community that mentors and guides on the sustainability of life as an artist, a celebrity and a member of a supportive community. Scholarship, financial literacy, supportive therapy...Hero Bridge and Homeboy will be there.
