Resurrection: Rebirth, Restoration to Life, Raising from the Dead Life is a constant cycle of birth and death. Even through the bleakest circumstances, there is always the hope that comes from new life. Whether it is the bulb, buried under the frozen ground, that emerges in Spring to reveal the beauty of its flower, or the resilience of mankind to withstand war, famine, and plague, life perseveres. My painting Resurrection reflects that eternal hope. The woman, dressed in white, is lifted from her snowy grave by the delicate balloons that carry her. The tattoos on her arm represent the scars of her former life, yet she emerges victorious. The painting is supposed to convey this hope for new life. Although we are constantly faced with the reality of our species' negative effects on this planet, we must always remember that where there is life, there is hope. Our scars are reminders of the lessons learned, but we can do better. It is not too late to have a world that values the beauty of nature, but also the beauty that we all carry within ourselves.
