Portal Do Sul is an architectural-sculptural work constructed in reclaimed timber. It draws on one of the most important human relations, that of harmonious and reciprocal relationships of humans with nature.
Part of Earth Portals series, the sculpture seeks to present an aspirational and unifying vision of the world for our common future. Inspired by the façade of an old Brazilian countryside
house, Portal Do Sul was conceived as the house of nature, which is always open and which is our only true home accommodating all of us without exceptions. Devised as the natural energy portal, the sculpture heightens visitors’ perception of nature's exuberant beauty and unsurpassed power. It serves as the threshold of personal transformation, calling into focus the ultimate unity of our existence and unlimited human potential.
The sculpture's framework seamlessly unites the inside with the outside and the tangible with the immaterial, making the audience feel interrelated with each other and with the surrounding landscape. Portal Do Sul’s ultimate aim is to evoke the reciprocal sensibility and the dynamic interrelationships of exchange among the viewers and with the natural environment. It seeks to activate the principle of reciprocity in human relationships with nature and with each other.
