Artist Statement:
These two paintings are inspired by the artist's travels, and both locations have their own stories to tell.

Mount Rainier, a mountain in the Pacific Northwest, has a legend tied to the Native Americans who often described these mountains as gods. In the story of Mount Rainier, the mountain was first a woman who lived west of Puget Sound. Her husband had two wives who often had disagreements. These disagreements left the one wife feeling overcrowded and constantly on guard. She left to the more open plains out east with her son. With more room to breathe, she and her son grew large to become Mount Rainier and Little Tahoma.
