Groundsel
Photo on Canvas

Size 30 x 30cm

Drawing and painting Plants have always been a large part of my practice and I have usually used photography as a reference. On returning from the USA with a good quality image of aloe I started to think about how to portray it. It then occurred to me that I could actually use the photograph rather than paper and paint to eliminate what I didn’t need and to add other elements to make a whole new image using photography as a medium rather than an end in itself,

I have developed this technique from there using and combining images to create portraits of various plants.

Currently, I am interested in the plants of the wayside – weeds in the garden perhaps – which thrive in unlikely places and form the basis of world ecology.

My practice has become more digitally based as my own skills have advanced.

I would describe these images as Mixed Media

I am passionate about what I do here and hope that they may in time become acceptable

I originally thought that I would offer these images as limited edition prints but have decided to offer them now as a single print, using non-reflective canvas printing onto a wooden framework.
