The Silver Spoon , 2021
20 x 16 x 1 in (h x w x d)
Frottage

“Silverspoon” is a frottage work of art. The piece features a black paper background from which a white, rectangular frame surrounds a smaller, silver teaspoon, in the center of it. The frame has intricate details formed by various abstract shapes in its borders, and the spoon has a circularly ribbed oval part on top that connects to a smaller middle-body of the spoon on which “1 teaspoon” is labeled. The tail of the spoon extends to a small but very detailed ribbed end, with a small circle hook on the bottom. It is done with white charcoal on black paper on a silver teaspoon and a metal frame. The position of the spoon in the center of the frame symbolically forms a “portrait” of the spoon, or in another way, a spoon self-reflecting in the mirror.
