I’ve always been drawn to textile work in my artistic practice as they are record-keepers (like books) - they preserve and document culture, lineage, and community. With Time Flies (a continuing series in progress), I was inspired by the decorative aspect of quilts, carpets, and tapestries through natural elements (plants, flowers, insects, etc.) In some way (just as textiles preserve memory and stories too), I wanted to materialize and document some of the themes, techniques, and materials I explored with my students this past year.
