Likened to lichen II , 2022
h = 600 cm
Photography and digital illustration

Digital patterns inspired by lichens and funghi reprojected onto trees from the same area they were found on. The inspiration for this artwork came from the eagerness to collaborate and make connections with fellow students in Europe. It was also a cross-pollination of ideas between disciplines and media.
Admill took close-up photos of trees in Switzerland with lichens and fungi on them. He shared the images with Baiba who lives in Latvia. She created digital patterns inspired by the lichens on the trees in these photographs. Then Admill projected them back in the images of the same trees the inspiration pictures came from.
Photography and digital illustration. This project helped us discover new possibilities of the chosen media.
With this work we hope to increase the awareness of things surrounding us that we don’t pay a lot of attention to in everyday life; to make us aware of the importance and the beauty of the ‘’invisible’’ things around us. Such as lichens that are an important part of the ecosystem.
