STORY:
Norfolk Island Is truly a jewel of the South Pacific and some of its reefs protect it from inclement coastal weather. But over millennia, the constant winds and relentless, pounding waves have carved amazing formations in the Island’s northern coast. The textures of the rocks here make it an extremely interesting area for photography. I wanted to do a panorama of this area with the profile of Elephant Rock in the background. To get the detail I need for large prints, I thought I’d try a stitch of multiple images. It seemed like an impossible task from a moving boat, but I decided to have a go. At The Blowhole crashing waves were erupting onto the cliffs like a crescendo. And fortunately, I was able to capture this exploding scene with all its glorious movement and detail.
