Self-Portrait , 2022
9 individual canvases (8x10 each), acrylic paint

A nine-panel canvas self-portrait. This portrait is about feeling overwhelmed by one's emotions and feeling too many emotions all the time so that at the end of the day you feel numb. The bright colours and flowers were used to show how someone would try to distract or mask this feeling to make it seem like it's not there but, in the end, those distractions don't do much to get rid of the overwhelming numbness you feel. This self-portrait took a lot of time and energy to make because of all the planning, drawing and painting. I had never done a painting this big that meant so much to me personally before, but the final outcome was definitely worth it.
