Dancing to My Roots , 2022
Paper, pencil, and pen

"The title of my art is “Dancing to My Roots”. The materials I used to make this are piece were a pencil, a piece of paper and a pen. In this drawing I drew a girl dancing a dance called “Bharatanatyam” an Indian classical dance form. She is dancing and fully embracing her culture. The meaning behind this art piece is that you should always love your culture like the girl in this art. I put mehendi designs as the sky and a Hindu temple in the background because it symbolizes the love she has for her culture. In my culture it’s common for people to wear henna for special occasions such as weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and etc. I put a temple at the back to symbolize the love she has for her religion.
