Mother Teresa was an amazing humanitarian. I thought it was important to capture her portrait in her memory. I used a stippling technique on this piece. Using a scalpel and x-acto knife, I made hundreds of dots by tapping the tip of the blade on the ink. This is a very time-consuming process. I worked about 150 hours on an off over several days to complete the project. A diluted ink wash provided some shading on the clothing. This is among my favorite pieces in my collection. People always comment on how realistic and photo-like her image is. When you see it in person, the work makes a very strong impact.
