Syria struggles to feed its people, due to over a decade of conflict and displacement and a spiraling economic downturn. Food prices are the highest they’ve been since 2013, rising over 800% within the past two years. Around 12 million people currently face acute food insecurity with an additional 1.9 million at risk. With food prices soaring, families’ ability to purchase basic food has starkly decreased. Access to food is a rising concern as even simple meals are becoming more of a luxury each day. Children and families who live in refugee camps, like the one pictured, are some of the most vulnerable.

World Vision has worked in the Middle East region for nearly 40 years. In 2021 alone, we reached 1.5 million people as part of our Syrian refugee response.
