Tina Bullen is a Colchester-based artist with a broad palate (pun intended). She trained in art in Canterbury, went into teaching, left teaching, then returned to art with a vengeance in 2018. She chooses not to work in one set style, as she finds her inspiration in so many things, such as nature, language and humour. Instead, she chooses to communicate atmospheres and meaning using whatever is appropriate at the time. As a result, her works tend to be representational with an impressionistic and symbolic twist. Equally at home working in monochrome or glorious technicolour, her work embraces contradictions and opposites, the zing of contrasting colours, the sting of isolation and the joy of connection.
