Paul studied Art at Manchester Polytechnic but left when his father became terminally ill. Returning to Art (specifically sculpture) some 20 years later, Paul would get lost in the processes of making sculptural forms. Such distractions from the everyday, created ‘room to breathe’ and gradually allowed him to re-connect to his creative self. Largely self-taught taught, Paul creates his own moulds and casts using a variety of materials.
Never blessed with huge amounts of patience, his work is instinctive rather than planned. “I will try to retain the 'idea' of a piece but let the material and the process to do the rest of the work”. For Paul, drawing out the journey of accidents and flaws that go into making a piece – strengthens the overall beauty and impact.
Paul describes himself as a sculptural artist, committed to visual innovation and authenticity. Because buyers of art tend to consider 'wall space' rather than 'room space', much of his sculptural works are wall reliefs. He maintains a long-held grudge that the world is bias towards paintings and 2D art. This is possibly the reason why many of his clients use adjectives such as 'unusual', 'unexpected' or 'left-field... (but in a good way)!

Paul’s figurative work interprets the traits and relationships of human interaction while his other works of pareidolia, invite viewers to make their own connection from the flows, patterns and structures he uncovers from the material in his hands.
