Mixed Messages Boxes
250 x 400 x 18 cm (h x w x d)

Well known for her 'Mixed Messages’ boxes, Martha created the first of its kind in 2010.
The installation is designed to feature up to 200 porcelain pots, each one decorated with a seemingly random word, barely visible as the letters are formed out of minuscule punched holes. When the electricity is switched on, selected pots light up from within, the words highlighted to spell out an idea, catchphrase, expression, lyric or rumination. The light holds on those words for a moment before it goes out and new pots light up with something else to say.
The wording of the Mixed Messages boxes is based around different themes. Please contact info@nonemoregallery.com for a digital catalogue listing the sequences of the boxes:
DON’T LISTEN TO ME
YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY INSPIRATION
BEING THE LIGHT
I’M SORRY FOR WHAT I SAID WHEN I WAS HUNGRY
