I like the drama I can create with B&W on landscape paintings. The dark foreboding clouds against the bright sun shining down from above. The lighter ocean against the dark island. The shadows on the trees. The breaking waves. The ripples on the water. It’s amazing what you can do messing around with “light” with oil paint.
