The inspiration for this painting came from Oyster Jim Martin who is the architect of the Wild Pacific Trail. He would often scout trail locations and find the best viewpoints where it could be built. Elevation, drainage, location, design details…he would do it all. I’m proud to say he’s a good friend of mine and I enjoyed the opportunity to work with him during my time in Ucluelet. Between the Wild Pacific Trail Society and Jim, there never would have been a Trail. It is an amazing part of Ucluelet.
We were lucky enough to get to walk the Wild Pacific Trail just before the recent huge storm hit the coast and the western coastline of North America. We walked from the Cabins at Terrace Beach to Amphitrite Point Lighthouse and were lucky to come across my painted landscape, which was right off inspiration point along the trail! I can’t describe the excitement I felt when I saw the landscape I had painted! It was an amazing day!!
