REPRESENTATIONAL AND FIGURATIVE SERIES

My work is primarily abstract in nature, and I also enjoy creating representational figurative work and contemporary landscapes. Regardless of the subject matter or the medium I use, my work is heavily influenced by the colors, patterns, strata, and textures of the Kansas High Plains landscape where I grew up. Emotions, dreams, and memories further anchor and inform my work. Much of my inspiration is from within...a stream of consciousness and intuitive process that is more attuned to expressing a mood or creating a sense of movement, balance, rhythm, and tension. I don’t really understand how to focus on what the particular “subject” is, or how things “should look.” I’m focused on my feelings, and I feel more creative and satisfied when my work is loose, untethered, and unselfconscious.
