Edward Ficklin (he/him), the maverick illustrator not afraid to say gay, is a self-taught painter, writer, publisher and sometimes technologist. He creates daring and exquisite queer fantasy art, publishes queer-centered sci-fi comix, and pontificates regularly on a range of topics in his Queer Quantum Dispatch newsletter. His work gleefully flies in the face of all manner of social shaming with imagery and stories of sex and body positivity. He regularly defies the societal forces attempting erasure by legislation, algorithm, or so-called “community” standards. His comix have been published by Snowyworks, Outlet Comics, and true to his queer indie heart, himself. His paintings appear regularly in the annual erotic art anthologies from Doable Guys, a collective of queer and allied artists. His paintings have also appeared in Raw Meat Collective’s Shower with Affection, and in various indie shows in NYC alternative gallery scenes. He likes his martinis straight up, with a twist, and, for the love of god, made with gin. He adores the grit, freedom, and wild unpredictability of urban existence and continues, likely to the grave, attempts to get that orchid plant to bloom again
