Park Pool , 2020

Archival Digital Print

Artist statement: My goal will always be the same: Create a relationship with the viewer. In photography it is easy to walk by each piece in a gallery as if scrolling through images on your phone. If my image can capture the attention of a viewer that’s where the relationship begins. I describe my photography as visual storytelling. I come up with the story, setting and details well before reaching for my camera. I know when the image is a true success when the view lingers in front of my image, takes a few steps forward and slightly tilts their head as their imagination takes over in exploration.

Artist description: Pictured is Cumberland, Maryland’s historic public Constitution Park Pool, which opened in 1939. One special evening I was able to stage and capture this image.
