Spray paint on locker
In this artwork I am exploring the depression and mental health problems faced by many school students. I have depicted a boy looking down feeling upset and depressed. The boy is depicted reaching for the lock on the locker - like many students do on a daily basis. The stencil of the boy will signify the feeling the boy has of depression. The chain form symbolizes the use of feeling like a prison and having no control over what happens in your life, representing what it can feel like living with depression. Inside the locker is the remnants of a year at school – worn notices of upcoming assessments and study notes.
