Norse: Wadawarrung/Kamilaroi , 2022
76 x 100 cm (h x w)
Acrylic on board

Throughout 2022 I have explored the theme of ‘IDENTITY’, through my Aboriginality and
my Irish and Nordic background. My more European side has allowed others
to tell me who I am, and who I am not, throughout my life so far. I have documented and been
inspired by multiple Aboriginal people such as Reko Rennie and Anthony J Walker. I have used Aboriginal and Norse symbols in a respectful, meaningful way, using them to express and tell a story. I mixed the imagery of these two cultures together to create a type of connection. Furthermore, I chose to use wood carving to make a spear as it is a symbolism of survival, which represents both my Norse and Aboriginal cultural heritage.
