The theme that I explored this year for Studio Arts is Family. Within this, I have explored the presence of ‘Legacy’, ‘Influence’, and ultimately ‘Loss’ experienced by (arguably) every member within a family. The subject matter for my artwork is my own family, a collection of individual portraits presented as a collection. Each individual piece is singular in appearance, yet the consistency of scale and aesthetic qualities ensures the pieces are whole in meaning. The central piece creates an aura of mystery, of strength, of solidarity. By presenting images of my own family, I am inviting the audience to contemplate their position within their own
familial standing.
