THE STONE O’ SCAR: an Orkney story , 2022
66.7 x 100 x 0.3 cm (h x w x d)

In a field on Sanday, between walls of lichen covered local sandstone, rests a block of gneiss from Norway. It’s a glacial erratic left behind after the last ice age; but to some it was a missile thrown in anger by a witch from nearby Eday. In 1879, attempts to bring this curiosity to display near Scar House were abandoned when the cart collapsed, crushed beneath its 14 tons.
