The prisoners , 2023
150 x 50 x 2 cm (h x w x d)

This thought-provoking performance explores the relationship between prisoners, technology, and power. In the context of an energy crisis, green power is supplemented with grey power. The actors are connected through a US-BD (brain device) that links the consumer's phone to the prisoner power bank. The use of a prisoner as a service highlights the artists’ concern for social justice and the power dynamics at play between corporations, governments, consumers and marginalized communities in our increasingly technological world. The consumer’s inertia and dichotomic relationship to the prisoner reflects the fact that he too is trapped to his phone. The audience is encouraged to reflect on the implications of our reliance on technology, the ways in which it isolates us and the extent to which consumers will go to always be connected.
