In the artist's own words: "Video Art, 'My Blanket' (2023) continuation of the project 'The Blanket' (2020). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV2jiQxbK8c The Blanket (2020) description:n 2020, I organized an interactive installation at the Nicosia Mall of Cyprus. Strangers were being asked to write a welcoming wish on a blanket I made out of squares for the arriving refugees at Kofinou, Larnaca, Cyprus. The blanket was supposed to be given to the refugee camp once every square was filled with a wish, as a welcoming gesture to the refugees arriving to the island. The interactive installation was performing from Thursday the 20th (on the international day of justice) until the 23rd of February at the Nicosia Mall, presenting the concept of 'Artivism' fighting against war. The project was supported and promoted by the organization of UNHCR. By the end of the project, the blanket was mostly decorated with welcoming wishes in different languages: English, Greek, Arabic, Russian, German and Kazakh, coming from people of different ages and nationalities. Some refugees relocated in Nicosia wrote wishes by giving hope, as they understand the suffering circumstances. My favourite wish is “23 years ago I came to Cyprus as a refugee, now it is my home. Welcome, there is always hope”. Before covid-19, I was aiming to give the blanket piece as a gift to the refugee camp of Kofinou in Larnaca, Cyprus. Later on, this was impossible to achieve due to covid-19 measures, therefore my project had been postponed. In Christmas of 2022, I was dedicated to go and give the blanket away, but Catherine Louis Nikita and Stefanos Kouratzis told me that if I give it away, it will never reach the people of the camp and it will definitely end up in the trash, saddened but not surprised. In 2023, I created the art video called "My Blanket" which I would love to exhibit in galleries in Cyprus, so it can finally reach the people of Cyprus."
