Millais preppers coffee for Mariana , 2017
59 x 35 in (h x w)

This is the first of a series I have done according to Pre-Raphaelite artists in which there is some story about a relationship between a man and a woman. This one was done after "Mariana" by John Everette Millais. The story of Mariana is from Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, as retold in Tennyson's 1830 poem "Mariana". Mariana's body language is of a break and stretch after working for long hours on her embroidery.
