RAZOR ON PHOTO-PAPER

Recognition for the refined and intelligent technique of Armenian artist Martin Ashkhatoev, who, by cutting through the chromatic layers of photographic paper with a razor, has succeeded in capturing the lightness of movement of small fish in a transparent aquarium tank. The contrast with absolute darkness highlights the bodies of these creatures animated by a hidden light, suspended in water and surrounded by fins resembling veils. It is a painting that combines the pulsating rhythm of abstract art with the extreme realism of details, achieving a result of particular balance, joyfulness, and timelessness.
