This richly detailed drawing is an imaginary landscape expressing the artists passion for army transportation. A large aeroplane dominates the skyline flying closely over the buildings below, dropping multiple, rectangular objects which fall through the air. Colourful human figures stand with their hands raised upwards. Tall trees grow on the banks around the central building and a river weaves itself around the image.

The artist was born in Faro, Portugal and his life’s ambition was to be a soldier. Many of his artworks are inspired his interest in the military as well as politics and TV.

I chose this piece alongside Gun by Andre Robillard because I was interested in exploring the relationships between different artworks in the collection.
