Artists Notes:
This work was started in 2017 and completed in 2023. Representing the strength I needed to survive once I was admitted to hospital, unexpectedly. The combined the elements, forms and shapes, bold colors and strong lines to create a sense of strength and power I needed to survive the experience.
The partial facial features, clothing, and headwear immediately link the female image to an era of history where strength and power were essential; I would not have survived as well without bravery and courage. The message here is: Inspire yourself, trust yourself, and be ready for the unexpected.
