Contesting and Bridging Boundaries and Borders: the US–Mexico Indigenous and Migration Experience. Installation for the European Cultural Centre 6th edition Time–Space–Existence, 20 May-26 November, Venice 2023
The installation is a collaborative work with commitment to the spaces of Del Rio, Texas-Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, along the Rio Grande. Collaborators include Diane Fellows (artist, faculty Department of Architecture and Interior Design), Adrian Jesus Falcon (artist, Falcon Art Center Foundation, Del Rio, Texas); Diana Lizbeth Zuñiga Hernandez (artist and founder of Global Indigenous Collective): mural process; Gion DeFrancesco, (technical director, Department of Theatre, Miami University).
The migration experience across the US–Mexico border of the cities of Del Rio and Acuña is presented through an immersive installation inclusive of video (with translation Spanish to English: Aurora Ortinez), paintings, a mural conducted by the 2023 Miami University Architecture Studio: Boundaries, Borders and the Imaginary, as well as an onsite, Palazzo Mora, live performance mural with the Liceo Artistico Michelangelo Guggenheim, Mestre.
