Connections , 2023
Graphite

This piece was a self-portrait pencil drawing and was a personal challenge to create. I struggle with body dysmorphia so trying to draw myself was very difficult as I have a warped perception and struggle to understand what I actually look like. However, I find it extremely meaningful, with all of my family being in another country, over the past few years, the only way we could communicate with them was over the phone. I hadn’t realized until then but it is one of the most important ways of connecting with someone who can’t be in the same room as you and people all around the world would lead drastically different lives without a telephone.
