Man in Water
, 2021
70 x 50 x 1 cm (h x w x d)
Acrylics on canvas
This is one of the first pourings I ever made. Just aiming to test a technique I knew nothing about, I poured over an old canvas (you can still see the sneakers shining through around the corners). Without much clue or purpose, I surrendered to an intuitive flow. The colors came out beautiful and when they had dried, I discovered that there was a man in my painting. Like the profile of Mozart maybe, or some music director from the old days, when they were making silhouette portraits. Once you see him, you can‘t unsee him. I felt immediately that there was something special about the technique for me. To this day, this piece is one of my favorites.
